What I liked
Like most 1st timer I was petrified.
Everyone at the hospital went out of their way to make me relax, thanks to their kindness and efficiency.
After a very straight forward pregnancy I had aslightly difficult birth when my baby's heart rate dropped. My epidural was already set up and within minutes I was iin the theatre surrounded by a team of doctor and nurses. The (fantastic) anesthetist became my link with the 'rest of the world' explaining what was hapening around while topping the epidural up.
The team managed to help my baby recover and I was offered the choice of having a natural birth or going on with the C section. Being still a long way from full dilatation I asked for the C-section to have my baby out and safe.
I will never forget when they showed her above the curtain hiding my belly to me, and when she screamed straight in my face with all her new lungs strength!
The staff in the in the recovery room were, again, kind supportive and professional. Same in the maternity ward where I spent 5 days, gently pushed to do a little more everyday. My baby was well looked after and I was well advised re breast feeding.
I can't thank them enough.
What could be improved
The toilets could have been cleaned more often. It's important that they are clean at alltime which was not the case.
"I can't thank them enough."
