"I cannot thank those involved enough, it..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

What I liked

My wife was admited as an emergency with a brain haemorrhage.

The A+E staff really saved her life, what more can you possibly ask.

Overall, from A+E, Neurology ward, Neuro and Radiology staff, CCU were wonderful.

after reading so many horror stories lately about the NHS I must say I was in awe at the commitment, dedication, professionalism and compassion of all the staff I had dealings with, not only with the treatment of my wife but also with their calming approach to me, especially in the emergency department.

I have nothing but praise for all concerned, in fact I cannot begin to imagine what my life would be like now if it was not for the way she was treated.

The Neurology team at Preston are exceptional and I would challenge you to find better treatment anywhere.

What could be improved

communication from consultant / doctors through nursing staff to close family members.

Information was made available when asked, in fact everytime I asked whether it was dinner time, tea time or evening a doctor was available to answer questions.

It was often awkward to ask as I know they are busy but information could have been passed down easier without asking for a doctor.

Anything else?

General care was excellent, nursing care was exceptional, it took some understanding as to why it was difficult for me to visit in the morning but it seemed like the routine was breakfast, cleaning, washing, change gown, change bedding, doctors rounds etc - nursing care at its best.

From my working experience, if only as many of us who are free to complain were as dedicated in our work as the NHS staff are in their work British industry would flourish !!

so please, look around you at work and see who would work as hard, in as important a task as these people with little reward and bad press.
