"A & E staff did more than just get on..."

What I liked

Given that A & E was very busy I was very impressed and how quick and focussed they were in dealing with patients. I was particularly impressed with the continuity of the care I recieved across all of the departments (A & E, Resc & Clinical wards). I was kept informed at all times as to what and why they were doing something.

What could be improved

The standard of the toilets in the ward. Whilst it is accepted that the mess is made by the patients, considering hospitals are high risk areas for infections more cleaner checks should be introduced. Some times patients are too ill to be bothered and I felt awful enough without feeling like I had to clean up someone's elses mess before I could use the ladies.

With regards to the cleanliness of the toilets, please accept our apologies if these were not of the standard required. I will pass your comments onto the relevant department.

The Trust has invested more resources to increase the number of cleans per day. We continue to address a number of environmental improvements in the hospital. We are improving the patient environment by introducing a higher frequency of cleaning and new initiatives in cleaning technology over the next year. This will be monitored more closely.

With regards to your feedback about the hospital environment, we’d like to reassure you that the new hospital being built at The Royal London will replace many of our existing ageing buildings, and will have far better environment for our patients. The first patients will be cared for in our new buildings in early 2012.
