"Nurses giving incorrect medications on drug rounds"

(as the patient),

Unfortunately I have had many instances of having operations over the last 15 years.

Thankfully I am reasonably alert and have had to correct nurses giving me medications that were either the wrong ones on the wrong days or not including some on other days.

eg I take methotrexate on a Friday evening and then have to take folic acid on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

On one occasion I was told I had been given morphine when in fact I had been given the anti sickness drug and was waiting to have the morphine on the last evening drugs round. It was only when I insisted they check the drugs register that they agreed that I had not been given the morphine, and this had been ticked on my chart.

I am 69 and thankfully still have a few brain cells that are working, but it frightens me that something as essential as the drugs round is not being taken as seriously as it should be.
