"Poor"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

What I liked

Nothing at all!

What could be improved

communication - to have nurses and stuff who are not cocky and think they know it all could be a start!

I recommend they be taught manners and how to be polite.

Anything else?

My partner attended peterlee walk-in centre and they they suspected mini stoke (as he had all the symptoms, numb on right side of body, tingling face etc.) so had him transferred to Durham hospital and was told he could bypass the wait in a and e as he had already been seen at the walk-in centre. Yet they still made him sit over 4 hours to be seen only to be told migrane and sent home with paracetamol, with no blood test taken ect.

We knew this was no ordinary migrane and seen next day GP who was fuming that he wasn't kept in over night and no test had been carried out! He has now been referred to a neurology specialist and told not to work or even cross a busy road on his own as it is possible he may have another attack. (something that should have been done and we should have been told while he was in hospital!)

The staff who treated him were cocky and didnt really listen to what he had to say ... 4 days on and he still hasn't fully recovered from this "migrane" and still doesnt have feeling in his fingers, has a tingly face and pain in his right leg .... utter idiocy.ReferralsParacetamolOpening hoursNeurologyBlood testConsultantsCommunicationNursing staff
