"Enlightening, nothing like it I was told..."

What I liked

Fortunately throughout the last 65 years my health has been very good and attended outpatient or day clinics only rarely. However, listening to the comments I had heard regarding hospitals was rather apprehensive about having to spend time in hospital for an operation.

The time then came when under pressure from my mate and his family (I have no family) an appointment was made to see my GP who immediately referred me to yourselves at Derriford as I was and had been for many years experiencing extreme pain from my right knee and had difficulty walking any distance.

From the initial X-rays at Liskeard and first visit to Derriford through to my admission and discharge I have no complaints, quite the reverse. All my fears were totally unfounded despite the the reason for being in hospital enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to choose Derriford in the future. Everyone I came in contact with was indeed superb in every way. I only came in contact with a few members of a great team, coming from a background where my life and the lives of others depended on teamwork can appreciate it.

Over the years I have found people very quick to complain because there may be something in it for them in someway but are slow to praise because there is no gain for them.

What could be improved

Thought everything was fine, improvement is a natural progression. (no table tennis table though) Joke.

Anything else?

Again over the years have heard people criticise the NHS but have to say from my first experience can understand why it is the envy of the world and quite rightly so.
