We bring my 6yr old son to Royal Manchester Children's heamatology outpatients. We always have to wait a long time. My son has leukeamia, so we're here every week or two. Everyone my son sees is prepped and understands him and his needs well.
There's a lack of things to do, but we've learnt to bring our own stuff to entertain our son. There's only so much the hospital can do to entertain the kids, it's not the priority, I understand that.
My biggest compliment is for the new appointments system. Prior to this, leukeamia patients would have to be here at 8.30am, they'd all have their thumb pricks and then they'd wait for the bloods to come back to be seen. Appointments make this so much easier and quicker. Now everyone isn't clambering to be seen.
All in all, they do a good job. They certainly do their best.
