What I liked
The paramedics and ambulance staff were fantastic
What could be improved
My 85 year old husband was left in A&E for 3 hours during the night waiting for a suitable doctor to be found to deal with his cardiac condition.
He was the only patient and the nursing staff were discusing and choosing a new car on the computer for most of the time. We had to ask twice for a blanket as he was cold. He was eventually moved to an assessment ward for observation where he received no care at all.
The ward was filthy. A woman patient opposite had diahrea which was still visible on the floor when my husband was discharged 2 days later into my care to take him to Glenfield hospital.
The food was disgusting. Patients were given inedible sandwiches with the only choice being "white or brown" and dinner one day consisted of quiche served with gravy on it!
Some nurses were surly and there seemed to be a culture of lack of care.
After repeated requests from our GP for information about his stay in Pilgrim they admitted they had no record of him ever being there or any treatment.
