What I liked
The staff in the maternity delivery unit were fantastic - cannot fault them at all. The two midwives that delivered our daughter were wonderful. The delivery unit was spotlessly clean and we were left alone after the birth for quite a while to enable us to have precious time with our daugther.
It is a shame that the actual ward was disappointing - the staff seemed to be reluctant to help - there were 4 free beds in my section of the ward so it cannot be because they were busy.
My private medical notes were lost by the medical staff and then found the next day still sitting on a wheelchair but in a completely different part of the hospital. The staff on the ward were not exactly forthcoming in finding them considering the notes contained all my private medical info and history of my pregnancy. My husband suggested (twice) that perhaps someone should check with each department to see if it was on the wheelchairs but to no avail.
However, despite all that I would recommend having your baby there as the delivery unit staff (night and day time staff) made everything worthwhile.
What could be improved
the maternity post natal ward - there was fluff and rubbish under my bed in the ward from the previous occupant. However, everything else was immaculate.
