"Why was I in discomfort for 6 years?"

About: Bassetlaw Hospital Rotherham PCT / District nursing

(as the patient),

I had a hernia operation 6 years ago and whilst in hospital I had a minor stroke. I left hospital with a catheter. It caused me constant discomfort. They kept coming and changing it but never did anything about the discomfort.

Two years ago I went to Bassetlaw Hospital to try and do without but it only lasted two days. When they put the catheter back they used a latex one which was better and didn't cause me any pain. My point is, why was I in discomfort for 6 years without anything being done?

The district nurses who visit me always differ. It would be good to have the same person each time. The lady who put my catheter in at Bassetlaw took her time and made sure the gel worked properly but it seems as if the district nurses don't have time. They know what they need to do but they seem to be too busy most of the time.

Also, I have not seen a doctor in 2 or 3 years. I didn't know about this alternative catheter for years so I think the doctor should check on you from time to time.
