I recently went to the Hallamshire walk in centre. I was in a fair amount of pelvic and abdominal pain and was known to have a large cyst, so I needed to get seen by one of the practitioners the same day (especially since i've had peritonitis before from these cysts).
I couldn't get a GP appointment so headed for the walk in centre. I didn't want to go to the A&E department at the NGH as the problem i came in with couldn't have been treated there as it was a Gynae/Urology problem.
I got seen really quickly and was asked to provide a urine specimen which I did on arrival. The nurse then asked why i was there. So i explained about my pain and the fact i'd been an inpatient at the NGH the week before and they said if i was getting more pain to go and see someone at the Hallamshire. She said she couldn't refer me, couldn't even phone my consultancy, i couldn't see a Doctor, I wasn't going to be seen by a specialist, i wasn't going to go to the admissions unit. They didn't even check my abdomen, or check my obs - i'd had a temperature in the morning and was worried my uti had gone to my kidney. I was told to go and see my gp. I asked them how exactly, and the nurse was very rude and responded with, how on earth did you get here - so i said, someone dropped me off, she said back, well they can pick you up again and take me! I explained they were at work and the couldn't and i was in too much pain to walk to my gps and didn't have any cash for a taxi.. but i was left to go.
I was absolutely shocked by this treatment, or lack of treatment and I shall never be going there again.
