"Poor communication at Nottingham QMC"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

My son was admitted to Ward D35 of the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham with pneumonia. Although the A&E was quick and thorough, the nursing staff was not brilliant. I can appreciate that they are very busy, but we had to wait hours for medication for my son. I had to ask the nurse for painkillers for my son's temperature, as he had last received some at 2pm. However, after misreading the notes, the nurse would not get them. When she eventually re-read them and actually got the medication, it was 9pm. I appreciate that my son was seen, but I think that the communication between staff is poor - I was told many different things by many different consultants, so, as a parent, it leaves you wondering who to believe and what to do.
