"rude MAU staff"

About: Newham General Hospital / Maternity care

I had come to triage at this hospital as I work here and having been told my community midwives and antenatal clinic that I can use this service even when registered with another hospital. I had a rude welcoming from the reception staff and was told the wait would be 4 hours and asked multiple questions about why I came to the triage at this hospital instead of focusing on my care and told to go to triage in my registered hospital. I chose to stay at Newham and wait the 4 hours as I was very tired after my shift at work and being heavily pregnant. I was anxious as I have left my toddler at home all day at this point. The receptionist was asking me for personal details across the room as they were registering me as a new patient. This clearly felt like a chore to them. I was seen within the hour and I received excellent care from the midwife that was appointed to me however during handover I heard the conversation about my care. The midwives were kissing their teeth and asking why don't people go to their own hospitals, why did she come for her shift instead of going to her registered hospital triage her baby is more important, why is she here just because she works here, she was told to go toher registered hospital but she chose to stay because she works here and many more hurtful comments for everyone to hear which was rather embarrassing. I also heard them sighing when the phone rang. The Barts Health values were clearly not met in this department.
