"The majority of the nursing staff ..."

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

What I liked

The majority of the nursing staff was excellent.

What could be improved

Cleanliness and Doctors communication Skills.

Anything else?

My daughter who is 18 has been in the hospital for two weeks with severe abdo pain, a bowel blockage was found and cleared but the pain has got worse yet her doctor insists there is nothing wrong he has refused to do any more tests to find out what is going on, yet she is relying on morphine to get any relief. I have asked staff if I could speak to this doctor on my daughters behalf but this has not been arranged. We have asked for her to be transferred to a different hospital but this has never happened. She is a celiac and the food provided for her has been atrocious, although this has improved after a meeting with the catering manager. My daughter just wants this pain to stop and for the doctors to actually listen to her concerns.

This sounds very distressing and upsetting for you and your daughter. We are concerned that you feel your daughter is not getting the support she needs. Please call in to the Advice Centre in the main entrance or ring them on 01246 512640. A member of the team there will be able to take your details and work with the ward staff to determine the best course of action. With best wishes Sarah Turner-Saint, Head of Communications
