"The staff were sympathic professional ..."

About: Queen Charlotte's Hospital

What I liked

The staff were sympathic professional and caring in the early pregnancy unit. In the maternity ward felt i was just another cow herded through the system.

What could be improved

I felt i had no choice in decision making being thrust on me, i was given no time to think about it. i was extremely confused, without my partner, visibly distressed, and said i needed to speak to my partner to help with my decision but was told 'i need an answer now!" no reaction to the visible distress i was in, was made to feel i was in the wrong to not necessarily agreeing to certain tests, i came out the unit 5 hours later, feeling totally deflated and depressed and went home in tears. What should have been a joyous exciting occasion on registering my pregnancy was in reality waiting around for hours, seeing a doctor who made me feel i had to take her choices, having blood tests by staff who simply do not acknowledge your existence, and the reception staff just make it clear they would rather not deal with you.

Anything else?

having been referred to Queen Charlottes for my first two pregnancies i unfortunately miscarried on both. My experience of the early pregnancy unit was great. the staff were kind and understanding. I've just found out i am expecting again and having read the previous reviews i am really concerned about the level of service i will receive. this really worries me, i have no choice to go anywhere else, and i do know of the three hospitals, queen Charlottes has been received as the best, yet the level of complaints is alarming, this isn't right and i will cetainly be taking in the level of service i receive and will report unsatisfactory care. Very depressing to have read the reviews, this is supposed to be a happy, exciting time, will have to wait and see
