"Cataract surgery and care"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Ophthalmology Outpatients

(as the patient),

I, had cataract surgery for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I was very nervous beforehand but the nurses were very kind and reassuring. The theatre staff were very professional and do a great job under the added pressure of having to meet what seems to me like unrealistic targets each week. A special thanks to my consultant Dr Kearns who made it all happen. The NHS deserves a bit more praise and a lot less criticism. Thanks again.

Thank you for using Care Opinion to tell us about your recent experience of having cataract surgery at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.

Coming into hospital can be a scary experience but we are delighted to hear that our team reassured you and looked after you so well. We think our staff do a tremendous job to ensure that our patients are treated within the national Treatment Time Guarantee, but it is nice for them to hear that patients do too.

Patients are discharged when it is clinically appropriate to do so. We are sorry to hear that you feel that your recovery time before discharge was not long enough, or if this was not explained to you.
