"Unhelpful staff"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital / Maternity care

(as a relative),

I took my wife to the ante-natal clinical in newport. When I mentioned to one of the staff my wife didn't understand English that well and that I would need me to accompany her in the room. They said that isn't their problem and that my wife would have to communicate herself. When the staff was struggling to communicate with her then they decided to ask for my help. I felt as if they were trying to be difficult with us due to the fact we're not white British people. My wife felt the same.
