Having battled a serious chest infection, the second in just nine weeks, I was advised to be admitted to this hospital for urgent treatment.
I refused having no confidence in the service so was asked to have an urgent CxR and blood test.
UI attended fro my CxR at 8 a.m. was was seen almost immediately. I then went fro my blood test marked urgent ... having serious difficulty breathing it was a challenge but reached the phlebotomy clinic around 8.15.
I was told I would have to wait until 9.40 as we would be fitted in around booked appointments, so much fro the urgency!
I struggled to breathe and coughed constantly, probably sharing my chest infection with all those present!
I was finally seen at 10.10a.m.
The hospital dropped the 'drop in service' which would normally mean about one hours wait, but now we have an even worse system where a patieint's condition is not taken into account. I couldn't control my cough and had to keep going out of the area to take medication to be able to breathe.
Surely when a test is marked 'urgent' a phlebotomist should be available to deal with these cases first, as used to be the past?
No point in making complaints, you get marked as a 'moaner and nothing changes, no solution, they just run you around the hosues with excuses.
... we all want good service, which should not be a lot to ask for!
