I was advised after ringing 111 to go to urgent care at Darlington memorial hospital (14/04/2017 at 930pm approx) to be checked over due to some pains in my stomach. When I arrived the staff at reception were very helpful and had me register quickly and explain that they would move me to A&E as all the urgent care doctors where out on calls and then I took a seat in the waiting room. I waited no longer than 10 minutes which was great as I expected to be waiting at least an hour as there was a lot of other people in the waiting room. A doctor (who's name I can not remember) and a member of staff where so helpful and calming and reassuring. The nurse told me that they would be taking my blood and I have a huge phobia of needles but throughout the hole process of preparing to take blood samples they were super helpful in trying to get me to remain calm even though I was freaking out and felt faint and sick. They kept talking to me (even though my replies where probably very blunt!).
So even though I was probably what you would describe as a bad in the backside patient due to my needle phobia the nurse was great with me and really help. Definitely a fantastic professional and an asset to the NHS.
"Great hospital and staff"
