"Excellent care"

About: Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency

My father-in-law was unwell with shortness of breath and being a doctor myself I had decided it was important to attend A&E to rule out a potentially serious cardiac problem.

It is important to note that no special treatment is given to NHS staff who attend services themselves, everyone is treated the same.

I was impressed with each member of staff we met, all were friendly, polite and knowledgeable.

My only potential suggestion to improve the service would be to try and steamline the patient journey even more by removing one of the triage steps perhaps.

We were immediately seen by the doctor at the front desk for triage (ok for us but no privacy for potentially sensitive issues), then a nurse for further triage (unnecessary?), then another nurse in ambulatory care who requested the required tests (great), and finally the doctor when most of the results were back (also great).

This all obviously takes time and resources.

Overall, very impressed with the speed and quality of the service. Thank you.

"Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, I am very pleased to hear that the care provided to your father in law by the team was of the level expected from our staff. I will ensure your feedback gets passed into them so that they are aware of your kind words. Once again thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience.

Kind Regards
