I crushed my finger at the weekend. I couldn't get to A&E as the nearest one is an hour drive, and with the symptoms of shock, I wasn't in a fit state to drive anyway. I decided not to clog up A&E and waited to see my docs in Richmond on the Monday. Arriving at 8.30 I was told, by a rather officious receptionist, that I had to have an appointment to see a minor injuries nurse, and they couldn't see me there and then. I jumped in the car, drove down to Ripon and the Ripon and District Community Hospital.
I was met by smiling faces and genuine compassion and concern. I was seen within 5 minutes by an incredibly professional nurse, and 10 minutes later I was on my way with an expertly bandaged finger.
As far as I'm concerned, the Ripon and District Community Hospital is the gold standard of the NHS, and it's a shame that other NHS services don't come close.
Thanks you Ripon and District Community Hospital - you are fantastic!
"What a fantastic service!"
