"Admission to and treatment given by Coronary..."

About: The Great Western Hospital / Cardiology

I was sent from my GP surgery by ambulance to A&E on Thursday 9 March 2017 arriving 10:30hrs.and was triaged within minutes. They were very busy with pressure building all the time. I was seen by doctors, had chest xray and bloods taken but at that time no bed was available in a cardiac ward. Although I had a lengthy wait in A&E I was eventually found a bed in Coronary Care (ACU). Results of earlier and further tests suggested I required an angiogram which was to be carried out after the weekend as several emergency cases had come in. At all times I was kept fully informed.

The angiogram was carried out on Monday 13 March and a stent fitted. I was discharged the following day.

I had to be readmitted on Saturday 18 March to balance my medication. That done, I was discharged on Monday 20 March and am going from strength to strength. I start a cardiac rehabilitation course (exercise and education) tomorrow.

I cannot thank and compliment enough, ALL staff, including consultants, junior doctors, nurses (at every level), technicians, ancillary and admin staff, for their care, attention and respect shown to me throughout my stay (there are NO exception to this list). They deserve praise, indeed. Many, many thanks
