"GI appointment"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

Not happy! Seen by Dr whose opening question was why have you come to see me? Because I was given an appointment to see you as the other Dr didn't have any available. Have seen the other Dr for the last 4 years as a private patient but who suggested moving to the NHS. Found the Dr I saw this time to be dismissive and not interested in what I had to say. Didn't ask how I felt - only whether I had bowel symptoms or not. Didn't feel reassured by this doctor, although he will refer me to another department- "though it will take some time" they said.  No follow up appt made with the GI service, although I should be kept under review due to my condition.

I am very sorry you are so unhappy with your consultation and care. We don't want people to be unhappy, leaving without reassurance and unsure of the way forward (clearly communicated).

Having read your post a couple of times, I wonder what we can do to help. Can I encourage you to contact Dr Thimmappa's secretary on 01292 614 562 and give her your details so we can look into this for you.

Thank you for your response. I have made another private appointment to discuss matters with the Consultant of my choice and hope that he can arrange to transfer me to his care in the NHS
