"My stay was made as pleasant as it could be have no complaints"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

Admitted to assesment ward from ambulance, staff quickly found I had a clot on lung due to imobility due to broken ankle, both doctors on duty were fantastic and moved things along quickly ct scan blood thining jab and on to HDU,.

All totaly unexpected as quetionnaire filled in when cast was put gave me a 1 in 10 chance of any problems, I was quickly made comfortable by Sophie who was friendly and caring put me at ease.

The following morning the Docs arrived what a terrific group of 4 who looked after me explained what was happening cannot speak highly enough of these guys.

They were caring and friendly which all helped yes they were doing their job but its the way they do attitude goes a long way. After 3 days sent to 107 under Dr Dempsey who again I found to be caring friendly explained my medication and how it would work and when I could go home,.

My stay was made as pleasant as it could be have no complaints the care the food friendly staff all was superb. Well done all

Dear seager159,

Thank you for you post and for sharing your experience. It sounds like you have had a really difficult time recently with complications relating to your broken ankle.

I'm very pleased to hear that whilst in the assessment area you received your scan and treatment as quickly as possible and then transferred to HDU for ongoing care.

We always aim to keep patients informed as much as possible regarding their care and treatment plans and glad you found the Doctors in HDU and in ward 107 informative in explaining everything to you.

I will of course share you message with all the teams involved in your care including Sophie and Dr Dempsey and I know they will be delighted to receive such positive compliments in regards to their care and friendly approach.

On behalf of all the teams, I hope you are feeling much better and wish you well for the future.

With thanks and best wishes

Fiona Robertson Chief Nurse
