"I can't self-refer. Can you hear me?"

About: Let's Talk Well Being Leicestershire and Rutland

(as the patient),

I often feel that I am not listened to.

I called my GP today and she said I should self-refer because of the deeply dark feelings I am experiencing. She gave me the number.

I called. I got a message saying you were too busy and I should call back later or self-refer online.

I have searched online for ages and I simply cannot see where I am supposed to click to fill in a referral. I just feel worse than ever now.

We are very sorry that you have been unable to get through to the service by telephone. The recorded message has been put on the line as we became aware a lot of calls were not getting through during a time of reduced telephone staffing. We are working hard to rectify this situation.

The link for self-referring on line is as follows:

www.iaptportal.co.uk/ltw.html

Thanks Peter (Caunt)

I've now self-referred and feel better just by doing that. Especially when I saw my answers to the questions and realised I was right to be asking for help.

You are bound to have busy times on the phone but maybe you could at least make the self-referral link online even easier to find.

Thanks again.

Thank you for your response which has prompted us to change our answerphone message to include the address of the self-referral portal, and our email address. Thank you for you helpful suggestions.
