"Resus"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Accident and emergency

My grandad was rushed into resus following a panic attack and excuberation after a nebuliser in major.

One junior doctor on major was absolutely fantastic and showed care and compassion and support throughout and when was sent to resus room came and checked on him. Once in Resus the doctor put Ohio on another nebuliser, again my grandad had another panic attack after finishing it and was finding it hard to control his breathing, during this point the doctor went upto my grandad and said "if your heart stops do u want me to jump up and down on your chest or let you go peacefully" now don't get me wrong I know these questions after be asked but there was no compassion no empathy just pure coldness which got me very upset, the doctor then said they will make a clinical decision and filled out a DNAR form. I understand my grandads condition (COPD) and that his lung function will get worse but in my opinion I could of been taken to the relatives room to discuss the sensitive subject instead of a room full of people and in front of my grandad who I'm seeing me upset increased his anxiety, doctors may have the brains and be good at saving lives but by heck this one sure lacked social skills and empathy, shame you can't teach that eh?
