"Excellent care in the Department of Plastic..."

I was admitted to the Department of Plastic Surgery on the 23rd November at around 10am following an injury to my left thumb. From the time of our arrival on that day, the care and attention from all staff without exception was truly excellent. I was examined without delay and the decision to perform surgery was taken quickly and confirmed by your consultant. Within the hour I was prepared for surgery. I was back on the ward by lunchtime and went home the same afternoon. Over the next few weeks I made several visits to the dressing clinic. On each occasion I was treated very carefully and with great efficiency. I was kept fully informed of my progress and on each occasion provided with advice on how to progress my recovery.

I would like to compliment every member of staff that treated me, the consultant and registrar doctors, surgeon,nurses, anaesthetiist physiotherapists and administration. I have now been fully discharged and making a good recovery. From my experience within this hospital I do not recognise any of the criticisms of the NHS that are often in the press.

Thank you to the consultant and all his team for wonderful care and medical attention given to me. I do tell everyone about my experience at the University Hospital, Durham.
