"Running out of time"

About: Chapel Allerton Hospital / Rheumatology

The staff work extremely hard, but I sense sometimes repetitive info is asked, and listening and hearing are timed too low. After a 'blip' 'flare' I was seen 2 months later. I felt very unwell but nothing critical. After pain and sleep deprivation for so,long I'm amazed I could recall my name, never mind, how long each symptom. The neurologist examined me and indicated carpal tunnel-previous nervetest was inconclusive. When asked what I thought my syptoms were, I wasn't sure. I suppose I was concerned cerebral lupus again. When I mentioned I'd had white patches on frontal lobes many years ago and treated with it infusions of cyclophosphamide, the neuro, said it could have been migraine.. on the drive home, their words sunk in and I questioned the whole system. Why was I poisoned, filled with the most horrendous drugs, gained 5 stone, lost my job and for a migraine!

So that flare, feeling so unwell, sparked by root canal treatment then infection, flared sleep deprivation and migraine. I have now been off my meds for half a year and felt good.

I phoned secretary to ask for transfer to more local hospital and never called back. But I have got an appointment in the post.

Can medics consider their choice of word or at least reflect after? When a highly qualified person who strives to remain a professional says she's unwell and you notice she isn't articulate and her cognition is impaired, then telling her she's depressed is not wise. Months of pain and feeling unwell, lack of sleep makes anyone feel low but remember they are bubbly, vivacious and successful the rest of the time.

I would be more than happy to work with a team and design a book that patients can use to summarise key points, portray them in their best light so you can quickly see where we want to get back to after this blip. A lupus log is used in the USA but not here, that I know of.
