"Kind & Supportive"

About: Leighton Hospital / Accident and emergency

On the morning of February 10th 2017 my 86 year old wife fell at home and I was unable to help her up so called 999. The paramedics were very helpful and decided to take her to A & E Leighton and advised me to follow in my own car. The staff in A & E were extremely kind and helpful even supplying us with coffee and biscuits and later providing a sandwich for my wife.

They were very busy but also very thorough and eventually decided that she should be admitted.

She was initially in Ward 3 then in Ward 4 and in both wards although the staff were busy they made time to explain to us what was happening and were always very kind and helpful. We are very grateful the kindness which was shewn towards us by all of the staff we met.

With regards to operating costs we were surprised that full cooked meals were provided for both lunch and dinner. In our experience most households only have one full cooked meal each day and it seems to be an unnecessary expense to provide two, particularly when most patients are confined to bed.
