"Bad - would not recomment at all - dangerous"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) / Dermatology

Okay I go to this hospital regularly for check ups.

Recently had a rash and was referred to their dermatology unit.

What a nightmare experience.

Worst I have had with any hospital.

First I emailed to inquire that the appointment time that was set was due to take place when I was out of the country – to which I received a standard message saying that as I had changed my appointment twice – I was now to go to my GP for a referral (when I had not).

So I went to my GP – told them what had happened and they prescribed meds.

Then a dermatologist writes me a letter telling me off for not attending the set appointment and requesting I make another one to follow up.

So I did.

Went along, and the service was terrible.

Staff didn’t acknowledge me, you check in on a computer downstairs, and when I saw the consultant I was told to use a shampoo and to seek a tablet from my GP if the shampoo didn’t clear it up.

Suffice to say shampoo did nothing – and the meds they prescribed would interact with the other medications I am on.

I think this is very dangerous and advise anyone going to dermatology to seek a second opinion.

I had a list of my meds and at no point was anything said about contraindications about them.

Most worrying.

Secondly I had to organise a diabetes appointment.

Well that’s the funniest as the next available time they had was in May (its February at this moment in time).

If I wasn’t attending the hospital for a different department I’d doubt I would return and would look elsewhere!
