Thank you for raising your concerns to the service. I’m sorry you feel that the service is not supporting you, as you would wish.

Just to explain a little about how we try to support people. Essentially our treatment service is not just about medication, although it can be an important part of getting into recovery. We endeavour to work with clients towards detox and community reductions by one to ones with staff and our full workshop programme.

So importantly we have a number of treatment options, which sometimes includes detoxes or community reductions from drugs someone is taking. However what we try to do in the first instance, is to identify why drugs are being taken in the first place and how we work with client's motivation to change. Sometimes clients use drugs because they are emotionally upset by being homeless or other difficult circumstances. So we try to address those problems to give clients the best chance of stopping using before we commence reductions/detox.

If we offer a detox without trying to resolve the other problems, clients often continue to struggle with stopping/reducing their drug use.

I’m glad you are coming into the service and I hope the above information helps to explain the way we work. Please do discuss this with the staff you are in touch with.

Best wishes

Jane
