"My daughters stay at NSECH"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had broke her hip. She was on ward 1, and in a room by herself. I felt that the staff were terrible as they would go into her room and move her things so she could not reach and when she buzzed they use to ignore her. Nurses are there to attend to patients not ignore them

Dear Angry mam,

I was saddened to read your review. It is not acceptable for the staff to have treated your daughter the way you describe. I am very sorry that you felt our staff ignored her when she needed their help and did not put things where she could reach. This is not how we expect our staff to behave and I can only apologise that this was the case for your daughter.

I would like to look into this in more detail for you, but due to the anonymity of the post I am prevented from doing so. With your daughter’s permission please could you send her details to patient.experience@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk. In the meantime please be assured that I will pass on your review to the team involved so they can reflect on this and hopefully prevent it from happening again in the future.

Kind regards,

Jessica
