I was admitted for a double angiogram in January in the Cardiology department.
The Consultant was very quick to pick up on a severely leaking mitral valve.
Their quick actions had me admitted the next day and within a week I was transferred to Derriford for some seriously major heart surgery.
During my week at Torbay I was monitored every few hours for blood pressure, oxygen levels and a host more things.
I was
X-rayed regularly, including my dental work as well as my chest (the two things being closely linked so I have learned).
The on-going tests and monitoring of my stats was incredible.
The team noted every thing that was going on.
Nurses many others were so caring too.
A particular nurse lightened the atmosphere with their humorous attitude without compromising the seriousness of those in their charge.
We were all made to feel very relaxed, safe and confident and that we were in very safe hands.
I even ate like a king in that ward ! The food was magnificent and all the staff, from cleaners, cooks, nurses, admin and doctors worked tirelessly to ensure our welfare was placed second to none.
I cannot praise the staff in the this department highly enough.
A huge big thank you to you all. You are stars, every one of you.
"Outstanding care and concern in Chest Pain Ward"
