"Labour ward october 2016"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Maternity care

I gave birth in October at the NGH labour ward- I was initially upset as I wanted to use the birthing unit however my little girl was very overdue and I ended up needing an induction. I was initially very worried about this, however the midwife I had was amazing, incredibly supportive and relaxed and made me feel in control. I cannot express enough gratitude, the midwife treated me with complete dignity and had me and my partner chuckling away!

From the minute we got there the staff where fantastic and reassuring, from reception to the delivery suite.

I was impressed that there was such a relaxed environment even though the ward was very busy!

So thank you to all the staff (including the Anethetist who I kept calling an anesthesiogist for some bizarre reason, my bad! ) and the amazing midwifes, nurses drs and support staff- I was even lucky enough to have a lovely person who delivered the meals and tea the next day!

We're really pleased that we were able to allay your fears about needing an induction and that your daughter's birth was such a positive experience for you all, despite you not being able to use the birth centre.

Thank you so much for your kind words and we hope you are all doing well.
