Today I visited my Kincorth Medical Practice to have steroid injections into a very painful hip. I have had a similar procedure carried out 3 years ago by an Orthopaedic Consultant and found it really painful and anxiety provoking; so was dreading this appointment. It was the 1st time I had seen this GP for this problem, another GP had recommended him, as he specialised in this area. He calmed my nerves by asking for the full picture from my perspective. He respected my choice to have my husband present and protected my dignity at all times. He thoroughly examined me, then gained my informed consent to have the injections.
He appeared caring & compassionate throughout the whole consultation. He advised an MRI scan to find the cause of a pain I thought I would just have to manage. He did not rush me, or treat me like he was on a tight schedule, which I realise he would be.
"Caring & compassionate throughout the whole consultation."
