What could be improved

Sirs,

I doubt this will do any good either, I have been trying for several days to make an appointment to have a blood test, so far to no avail. The departments phone is permanently busy as is the main switch board. Why has a perfectly good working ticket system been replaced with an appointment system which you can not make because no one will answer the phones. I am a wharferin taker who works full time, also a JP. My next test is due 1st October. I am in court that day and want an 07.30 appointment. No one will speak to be which in its self isn't good for high blood pressure.

What the hecks going on?

Response from Ilkeston Community Hospital

We acknowledge there is an issue with regard to the telephone system within the hospital. We have had a direct line telephone installed with 4 lines to it & it bypasses the hospital switchboard. We will be having this manned by two people during the busy periods of 9 - 12:30, then by one person until 4pm. This will be going live on the 22nd of October, all the in formation will be forwarded to GP practices with posters, appointment slips etc, and an advert will be going in the Ilkeston Advertiser.

With regard to this gentleman's comment, all patients who need a blood test for their INR (Warfarin) will not need to make an appointment as specific slots will be kept free for these regular attenders.

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused so far & we appreciate any future feedback.
