"Accident and emergency"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

My mother (100 years old) had a fall yesterday (28th January) at her residential home and after being checked over by two lovely paramedics they suspected a break and thought it wise to take her to hospital for an X-ray. The X-ray revealed no break and I was able to take her back to her own bed at 8pm after a total of only just over 2 hours in hospital. Over the last 5 or 6 years my mother has needed hospitalisation on 4 or 5 occasions, the care she has received has always been good.

This time however, whilst waiting with my mother I was able to observe what appeared to be additional systems put in place to cater for the much publicised increase in demand for A & E services. The efficiency of your staff, their patience, constant hard work, yet still finding the time for kindness; the organisation of the department in general was very impressive.

Every member of staff I encountered was helpful, kind and patient.

I take my hat off to them all.

Thank you for your endorsement of the additional systems in place and the departmental organisation.

I am glad your mother was treated so quickly, therefore back in the comfort of her own bed by 8pm.

Thank you also for your very positive comments about the care and kindness received from the staff, I know this will be much appreciated.
