Firstly I must say that the care I received during labour and the unplanned surgery was fantastic. I had a long and stressful labour and cannot thank the people involved enough: midwives, student midwives, paediatricians, nurses, anaesthetist and anyone else I have forgotten to mention. Unfortunately I had to stay on the postnatal ward for six days and I am looking to make an official complaint about the treatment I received there from some of the staff. Whilst the vast majority of the team were very helpful, understanding, kind and patient I was extremely upset by the actions and words of others. I was so happy and relieved to finally be discharged that I considered not making a complaint; after all, I am now home safely with a healthy baby. However, upon reflection, I feel it would be unfair to future new mothers and service users to just let it slide.
