"nhs dentist disorganisation in Carlisle"

About: Cumbria Teaching PCT

(as the patient),

I made an appointment six weeks ago for myself and my wife to have a checkup at our nhs dentist, this being a different one to which we had seen last year who I was told had left the practice, when we attend we are given blank looks by the reception staff and then told that our appointments have been cancelled and we were sent letters to inform us of this two weeks previously. We never received these letters so consequently turned up at the correct time for our appointments to be told that the dentist was leaving the practice shortly and that we would be contacted when a new dentist was in place. I must point out that that if we had seen this dentist it would have been the fourth one we have seen in the five years since the practice opened as the previous three we have seen have all left. How long do we have to wait now to see someone? -- there was no indication given to us of this. I read in the local paper last night that the percentage of patients managing to get an appointment had just risen to 94 per cent, I would question whether this is really the true picture of what is happening in the real world, powers that be take note. What do other patients think of the service we are not receiving??
