"because of my disability made to feel worthless"

About: Rotherham Hospital

I have found there are two faces to the Rotherham Foundation Trust, one of the pictures it like to portray to the people of Rotherham is one that it is all kind and caring to the people it should be serving.

And the other is the one I have had to face, the face it doesn't want you to see which I have to say is shared by many of the people who I have had to opportunity to meet. They will say one thing to your face in a meeting and then stab you in the back at the first chance they get.

The situation I find myself in is that I have a disability, I am registered blind with a rare eye condition which means I am losing my eyesight. I am down to the last few percent of my vision.

I have always treated people with the up most respect and dignity in my life, and expect people to do show me the courtesy and and show me the same back. my problems with the management at the Rotherham hospital started when I asked for a reasonable adjustment to be made so I could have my own medical records read out to me as I am blind. Which I was refused, maybe I wasn't blind enough for them? or the didn't believe I had a disability?

Last your a new law came into effect called Accessible Information Standard, which help people with disabilities and sight loss access their record in a way which is easier for them. I have pointed this out to the Management of the hospital, but I am afraid it has fallen on deaf ears. I have been told the hospital is breaking the by denying my request.

I find that as I am disabled and going blind the hospital just refuses to listen to me. Maybe this is the true reflection of the Rotherham hospital, a hospital run by people who show no caring and compassion and understanding to people with disabilities.

I firmly believe that if the people who run the Rotherham foundation trust have no value of compassion then how can they expect the staff at the hospital to show any. the management should all hold their heads in shame how can they preach something to the staff then don't show any caring them selfs.

they question I would ask everyone who reads my story is "who speaks up for the people who are disabled in society"

are we a nation of people who just don't care about people who are disabled?
