Unfortunately my father was admitted to Southend in December 2016.
The A&E dept treat you like you are insignificant.
I know all patients are equally important but when I want to discuss the health of my father with a doctor, I don't expect them to roll their eyes and tell me to wait my turn, especially when we had been waiting in a cubicle for three hours.
I then proceeded to watch all the medical team having a laugh and joke about something whilst I'm sitting their breaking my heart that my father is so ill!
I also had to assist a very frail gentleman in the next cubicle who was constantly calling out for assistance but was just being ignored.
The poor man needed a bedpan but was treated with such disrespect!
He was just elderly not mentally unstable!
I can't actually speak for all the medical teams because I know many of them are excellent but there are quite a few who are clearly in the wrong profession.
I was seriously concerned about leaving my father alone at the end of visiting on the ward each evening as I didn't feel confident that he was being taken care of properly and they would ensure he was looked after in an emergency.
There is a clear lack of compassion towards the patients and their families.
I could go on and on but know with the over-crowding of our hospitals, nothing is likely to change and if anything, will only get worse!
"Improvement needed all round"
