After ringing 111 and the doctor saying they would send a community matron to attend my Dad at home, we ended up in a&e as the matron refused to come out on a Sunday afternoon. They were actually from his own care team put in place by the GP as he is disabled and has many serious health issues. Absolutely disgraceful. So, when we arrived a&e was packed. When we booked in we were told a nurse would come and speak to us and my Dad would be treated as urgent. Within 10 minutes he'd had all the required observations done and a nurse rang a colleague who they thought could help. If not we would have to go to Canterbury. Luckily a brilliant member of staff and their team saw him in the SEA unit. They managed to sort his problem quickly and efficiently. He had to wait for 30 minutes after the procedure to make sure he was ok and the manager of the unit made us all a cup of tea! We cannot praise them enough, we were in and out within 90 minutes. Fantastic service that needs more support.
