I am diagnosed with Micro and Macro vascular disease. Diagnosis was made following a cardio vascular Magnetic Resonance Scan on a T3 machine, I understand Hypoperfussion can clearly be seen when I am under stress. Basically my vascular system constricts stopping blood reaching any down stream organs, it mostly affects my heart and skin but it can and does effect any part of my body. Dependent upon how well my vascular system constricts is relative to the amount of pain/damage. Two years ago, my gallbladder was removed to prevent further pancreatitis, later it was suggested that the cause was hypoperfussion due to Microvascular disease, I have also had a TIA which was put down to microvascular disease. I travel to see my consultant at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital because no cardiologist in the West Midlands has any practical or working knowledge, but of course I have to attend a local Hospital in my area. In June, I had raised trops and some ECG changes and was given the tag of NSTEMI at Walsall Manor Hospital although my consultant disputed this suggesting it should be Acute Coronary Syndrome due to hypoperfussion with clear arteries. The beginning of this year had been stressful and at various times I had pains in my left arm and neck. Mid Friday afternoon I found a spot in front of the tv which I dropped into and zoned out. My wife went to take my parents shopping while she was away l went into an event, our builder who was there had a panic and thought l was dying, it was a good one, he phoned 999 and was taken to the Manor hospital A&E. They were great considering that they were at crisis point and bursting at the seams. They thought l was having another heart attack and put me into a high dependency cubical next to their station, within 5 hours l was on the cardiology ward have been given pain relief, a chest xray and loads of TLC. I cannot praise this department enough. The ward staff where a bit more reserved but still on the plus side rather than on a negative side. I had an up and down night between pain killers and GTN, when I tried to walk to the loo/washroom I got tired and the staff stopped me and made me ride a plastic chair on wheels, they too thought a heart attack. My bloods came back within tolerances, even my trops! (my wife joined me at the hospital Friday evening and even she said I looked very poorly and thats from someone who’s gone through this about 20 times).
I then met a consultant who suggested I go home, implied that I wasn’t ill and then went on to rudely and aggressively question my diagnosis and the ability of the doctors who diagnosed it.
I've filled a form in at the hospital saying that my overall experience of my time at the Manor Hospital was excellent except for the consultant. I now wish to complain about his attitude and I understand that this is not the first time. How am I? my chest hurts and I feel tired but where can I go? Luckily, I have an appointment with the pain clinic at City Hospital, Birmingham on Thursday of this week.
"Overall experience excellent with one exception"
