"Still appreciative memories months later"

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

Following a fall in Southwark I was taken to St Thomas for a hip replacement and was in Gorge Perkins for ten days. Now, In December, I still have good memories of my time there despite the heavy pain relief medication. The staff were very caring and considerate (except possibly for a couple of passing doctors who recoiled and quickly fled the scene when I started to hallucinate mildly one afternoon with my wife present.). Both the nurses, cleaners, doctors and physios and trolley-porters were otherwise near-exemplary. One other low point was that my request to speak to the Anglican Chaplain was apparently never actioned. The operating surgeon, indeed, telephoned my wife at 6.30 a.m. just before my operation to reassure her. The ward benefits from a spectacular view of the Houses of Parliament and the River Thames. It is well equipped with television and telephone and has only four beds. Though I had little appetite the food service was good. Hurrah for the NHS. ice
