After being in labour for 3 days, I was finally able to go in hospital to be assessed and thankfully was now in full labour. A simple question "would you like to use the birth centre" how glad I am that I did. As soon as I walked in the light setting, the sound of the pool being filled, a lazy boy chair for my husband to relax in and no hospital bed, brought an instant feeling of calm to us both. Each midwife who helped was a credit to the hospital. They were attentive, gave suggestions based on what I wanted and helped me through my contractions. I was in labour for 4 hours much better then the 24 hours in my first labour.
The pool was soothing the heat helped. Along with gas and air I felt able to cope.
Even after labour the care that was given to me was amazing and the midwives were patient with me. Being in the birth centre I was given my own private room to recover and we were able to go home 6 hours after.
Everyone I spoke to during pregnancy always wished me luck for choosing this hospital again, I know I made the right choice and I cannot recommend this department and all the midwives that work there. They are amazing at what they do. So thank you for making what could have been a traumatic experience a memorable one for me my husband and new baby.
