"The staff are all welcoming and friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble"

About: Centre for Integrative Care (formerly Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital)

(as the patient),

I have just spent nearly a week in the CIC and received the best of care from all the staff. The staff are all welcoming and friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble.

I have fibromyalgia and depression/anxiety, and this was my 2nd time as an inpatient (previously was in about 5 years ago). When I went in my pain and stress/anxiety levels were both extremely high - however, by the time I left both had been reduced, especially my anxiety levels.

The classes are all beneficial and taught in a calm, relaxing environment.

Treatments such as the heat lamp and hot bath are available as needed - and nursing staff are their to ensure you get the maximum benefits

Access to complementary treatments such as acupuncture, bowen therapy and massage made a big difference to my pain and stress levels

There is adequate rest time between classes, which allows you to benefit fully from the classes; rather than trying to remember too much information at one time.

You are made to feel that you are important, and that your health matters - having access to the full care team of nurses, doctors, physiotherapist and complementary therapist during the week means that you are able to deal with all issues as they arise ... whereas if you are seeing them as outpatients, its individual appointments often with months between them.

I cannot fault the staff or the service I received while an inpatient, and if this service is done away with - it will be a great loss to the patients who attend.
