"I had a wonderful experience of childbirth"

I had a wonderful experience of childbirth at AMU.

I started contracting at home and once I went to the unit I was met by very friendly staff. I stayed in the midwife led unit and during that time was looked after by two fabulous midwives. My daughter was born about 4 hours after I arrived.

The midwives left me to do everything exactly how I felt comfortable. After a previous induction, I was delighted that this time I could stand up and walk around and utilise all the equipment in the birthing room.

I gave birth standing and immediately was able to take my daughter into my arms. It was so natural! It was an experience that my husband and I will never forget. There was no intervention and I felt in control at all times.

The staff were friendly, attentive and very supportive. I was even happier to be discharged home that evening.

Well done to AMU midwife unit, you ensured that this mummy had a positive and natural experience and I believe you gave my little girl the best start. ( and the tea and toast was delicious! )
