"I had my operation fairly quickly ..."

About: Leicester General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had my operation fairly quickly upon arrival.

What could be improved

The food needs to have more vitamin content. As I was anemic I needed green leafy veg and salad and grilled meats etc, and the food that was on offer was stodgy and flavourless and its sole purpose was to fill you up. The food tasted cheap and nasty. The soup was powdered not fresh. and the boiled veg was watery.

Anything else?

At the nurses station, at times it was quite rowdy and noisey with the staff shrieking and laughing quite loudly, it felt intimidating at times as we didn't know who they were laughing at. (Us probably). It almost felt like they were down the pub or the local nightclub, the way they were carrying on, and when you are ill you need to rest, not listen to them having a laugh. At my pre assessment before the op, the nurse asked me what my religion was and wether I wanted to see a priest. I answered lapsed catholic as my religion and No to seeing a priest/Nun. AND guessed who turned up on day 3 of my 5 day hospital stay, yes you have guessed it ,a Nun. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. And I hope you had a good laugh at my expense Leicester General.
