"Felt Judged, labelled, stigmatised left feeling..."

About: Norwich Community Hospital

Seen in Pain Clinic and given options, told to contact them when I had decided which option to take.

Rang receptionist when decided which option to take and was told doctor would be informed and I would get an appointment in the post.

Waited months and the appointment never came so went back to GP and got re referred again. Saw the same doctor who refused to give me the treatment that had previously been offered me. The doctor suggested I go on to a pain medication, and then sent a letter to both my doctor and myself saying I needed pain medication, but basically there was nothing wrong with me, I was just a malinger out for gain.

As the only gain I wanted was pain reduction I found this offensive I went to see this doctor for help and trusted them to do their best for me.

Left feeling judged labelled stigmatised and worthless. I have X rays that go back over two decades that support my ongoing problems and have always worked since leaving school over 40 years ago up until the recent trauma that has made matters much worse, and forced me to take early retirement to gain a Pension I had paid for.

I am either I am ill or I’m not.

If there is nothing wrong with me this doctor was wrong in prescribing any medication and if there is something wrong with me they were wrong in not allowing me the treatment originally offered and therefore failing to look after my needs fully. Comments like this on medical records mean people who treat me in the future will already have prejudged me and I will be denied treatment. I know this to be true having been a victim of the baby organ scandal of the mid 1990.

I was labelled as delusional/depressed for claiming that the medical profession had returned my dead baby to me minus all internal organs + brain.

Seven years later I proved the truth and received an apology and body and later tissue samples of the remains, then had 2 more heartrending funerals.

Another NHS hospital placed my mother on the Liverpool Pathway without consent and by the time I found out it was too late. I did not take legal action over either event.

Recently I was forced to pay for a test I needed as I was in such pain which the NHS in another department have been putting off, the results just back indicate I need to have an operation and soon.

I cannot continue to fund my own healthcare for long and feel this throw away comment by a doctor who I saw for twenty minutes will inevitably mean me getting even less in the way of health care in the future.
