"Great care given by dedicated nurses, doctor and therapists"

About: Westmorland General Hospital / Langdale Unit

(as the patient),

I received great care given by dedicated nurses, doctor and therapists. The atmosphere on this ward was clam and contrasted greatly with the very busy ward in Lancaster. The nurses were friendly and my key nurse Jen Pointon, was very compassionate at all times- especially when I was very low. She always showed interest and offered me encouragement. She affirmed every little progress that I made. When I began to recover movement, the therapists worked very hard with me and found alternative ways around the problems I encountered.

The worst bit was the shortage of the staff when I had toilet needs. This is because they had so many extra duties in addition to nursing e.g. serving meals and clearing up. Extra staff (ancillary) is needed to relieve the pressure. The kitchen staff deserve appraisal too. Food was excellent. They cared for my individual needs when it was necessary.

Thank you for your posting. I am very grateful to you for taking the time to feed back your experience.

I am very pleased to read that you found the staff to be very professional, friendly and helpful. I am pleased that you enjoyed the food during your stay and will ensure your feedback is passed to the catering department.

I take on board your point about staffing levels and I will feed this back to the ward manager. Managing the resources we have to help us provide the best possible service is something we regularly review and I do value your opinion.

I will take great pleasure in feeding back your comments to the respective teams who I know will be very grateful to you!
